Forgecraft is operated by artist blacksmith Aquilla Cooper.

Growing up in Sheffield, England - which is well known as the city-of-steel - he was surrounded by a rich heritage of metalworking.

Aquilla began his blacksmithing journey in 1994.

It was while messing around with a forge belonging to a friend’s father in their back garden that Aquilla was first bitten by the blacksmithing bug! That was it. There was no going back. He enrolled at the National Blacksmithing School in Hereford to train to become a blacksmith.

After graduating, Aquilla honed his skills working in several blacksmiths’ workshops in Australia and Ireland, where he eventually settled.

While working in these forges, Aquilla was fortunate to get to work on some very interesting, challenging and beautiful projects, where his passion for forge work increased and his knowledge and experience expanded and developed.

Today Aquilla brings all of that passion and experience to all that he creates, where he is as happy designing and forging large architectural pieces as he is tinkering away at small household objects. The only important thing being that the customer always comes away with something designed and crafted to the highest possible standard!
